Print the code or use an iPad?
Whichever suits you, or both. The printed code needs no device: customers scan it and pick their order number. An iPad facing the customer shows each order's code, so customers scan it and pick nothing.
Does it arrive on a locked phone?
Yes. If it doesn't arrive for any reason, the board tells you to call it out.
Do customers need an app?
No. They scan and it works right away, on iPhone and Android.
